Client : London Fire Brigade
Redesigning the outdated interfaces of the LFB's Operational Risk Database and Purchase Order Management System
The London Fire Brigade's 600 plus stations constantly update the risk information and assessment for fire crews at tens of thousands of addresses throughout their operational areas and rely on fast access and vital updating to function safely . We worked alongside LFB managers and programmers to help totally redesign an outdated user interface making it cleaner and faster for operational staff to use.
New faces for ORD and POMS
A paramount consideration whilst designing ORD's new face was that a wide range of operational LFB staff would need to access and update the huge database constantly and that incorrectly entered information could be quite literally life threatening. We created numerous wireframes that were exhaustively tested by live users to ensure that end result was clear, intuitive and very user friendly.
POMS is an intranet ordering system within LFB that accesses over 100,000 items and products. The interface and search function needed to be clean, unambiguous, concise and above all easy to use.
London's fire and rescue service is the busiest in the country and one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world.
